From Booklist
Fans of Hunter’s popular Warriors series will pore over this nicely packaged companion guide, while those unfamiliar with the battle-worn felines may be enticed to read on after browsing the appealing full-color artwork. The book is organized into sections divided by the five main clans—ThunderClan, ShadowClan, WindClan, RiverClan, and SkyClan—and offers profiles of important warrior cats and overviews of each clan’s history. Sections for cats who fall outside the clans, including ancestors and cats who choose to live beyond the warrior code, are also included. While the guide is mostly a character encyclopedia, Hunter intersperses short fiction, as well as some detailed maps of cat territories in the forest, lake, and gorge. McLoughlin’s artwork, which accompanies each profile with a portrait, brings these cats to life and represents their personalities well. For libraries with a large Warriors fan base, this guide will be a worthy addition. Grades 3-6. --Krista Hutley

My son (11) was a very reluctant reader until he came across the Warriors series! He has now read at least 17 books (in the last 6 months) and keeps devouring them faster and faster day by day!He used to read them on the school library digital platform, but I now had to resort to actually buying them on the Kindle!I must say it's the best money I have spend so far! It's a true pleasure to see him read and enjoy books so much that he just can't wait to read the next book :)
I recommend purchasing this book if your child is near the END of the series. Or, at least let them know there are "spoilers" throughout. It gives a great synopsis of each "warrior", including their clans and anything which happened to them. If your child, or you, are not at the book where something happens to the "warrior", then the surprise and "thrill" of the adventure will (can) be decreased. Great resource though. We love how it gives an image to each "warrior" and have looked at the cats picture without reading the synopsis below.
Interestingly, I have searched on line 100s if not 1000s of times under the word “warrior†and never came across this popular and famous series about the cat clans. Since I knew absolutely nothing about this book series I decided to purchase (Warriors: The Ultimate Guide by Erin Hunter and illustrated by Wayne McLoughlin) this 222 page hardcover volume to learn something about the numerous cat clans.I guess this series is aimed at children but since I am a cat (and other animals) lover I found this short biographical review of more than 75 cats very interesting. A beautiful color illustration of each cat is shown along with a historical reference and the clan each cat belongs to is explained. This provides a good overview of what to expect when exploring the numerous books on these warrior cats. The first few pages show a map and guide of the forest and river areas where the cat clans hunt and live. This is followed about the clans and the members of that clan. After a short introduction the first part covers the “Thunderclan.†Some of the members include: Bluestar, Pinestar, Firestar, Sandstorm, Yellowfang, and Lionblaze. “Shadowclan†cats are covered next and include Raggedstar, Brokenstar, Nightstar, Tigerstar, and many other cats. The third section explores the cats of the “Windclan.†They are Tallstar, Onestar, Crowfeather, Nightcloud and Breezepelt and Heathertail. The fourth clan is the “Riverclan.†There are nine cats in this clan. The fifth is the “Skyclan†with four cats in this clan. The remainder of the book tells about the tribe of the rushing water, the early settlers and animals outside the clans.I found this book interesting and entertaining and may purchase some of the books in this series in the future. If you are into this cat warrior series this book gives an excellent introduction into the many clans and the cats that belong to them. Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Truncale (Author: Pro-Systems Combatives Volume 1,2).
It does contain spoilers and I mean A LOTI already new all those facts like if they turn evil and stuff but I didn’t quite understand a lot of things this cleared it up a lot it’s amazing perfect for a warriors fan like myself I have been reading these books for three years now the art is stunning 🖼
My grandson borrowed one of these books from a friend at school and got hooked on the story. He just started them, but I feel confident he will want to read everything in the series. Bought this companion guide so he had the maps and additional info to go along with the story. Very nice artwork in the guide. Was very disappointed to find that we did not receive the poster, which was supposed to be included with the guide. Would have given it a better review if we had not been cheated on that.
My son is OBSESSED with these books. He will read a book a day, sometimes more and begs me to buy the next set. Going from being a child I had to force to read for 30 min a day (or read to him) to this is absolutely amazing! As a parent, I like that the books are easy reading, and have elementary level plots. I know my son has been in tears a few times when characters were killed off, but none of the scenes are overly dramatic or violent. Just a sensitive kiddo. We will be buying this series until we have acquired them all.
I first read Warriors after I read Seekers(which was pretty good). Warriors is about a bunch of cats divided into five groups: ThunderClan, WindClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan, and the long-lost Clan, SkyClan. This book has everything you need to know about Warriors from Firestar to Scourge and from Millie to Sol.I recommend this book for any Warriors fan.Finish Warriors? Read Erin Hunter's other series, Seekers and Survivors. And be sure to look out for her new series, Bravelands.
My daughter book this book and she is completely addicted to this author, so I decided to give it a shot with this particular volume. The plot is entertaining, but I felt that I missed a lot by not having read the previous books and knowing more about the clans and the characters. Now I feel like I have to go back and read the series from the start. My daughter has all the previous printed books, this one being the first she bought on electronic version. The characters are very well developed and the ambient is described in a way that you feel yourself in the story. Very easy reading, the plot flows in an adequate path. If I could complain (not really a complain, but...), I would suggest easier names for the cats. After a while you get used to read all the long names, but at first it was hard. It is like referring to a person by first name, middle name and last name every single time you mention that person in the story. Anyway, overall it was worth the experience and I shall read the series from the beginning, as I mentioned before.I recommend this book to the permanent library of any reader that loves a well written book. We bought this book from Amazon.com. Opinion expressed here is my own.
