This pamphlet type book was easy to read, gave a nice history of meditation and had several tips for getting started. The thing that it did not do (at least for me) was to explain the actual meditation act. I understand the necessary surroundings, what to wear, etc., but not the act itself. It repeatedly stated that if your mind wanders to gently pull back to your mantra. Ok, I get all that but where does the spiritual feeling enter into this process? As a newbie to meditation I actually have more questions than answers.
More extended pamphlet than book. This isn't recommended as providing sufficient content for the money.
Meditation is a general term that pertains to the different ways in which a person can achieve a tranquil state of being. It tells you which types of meditation in this book it give 8 different ways and it prepares you on how to do it. And if choose Candle Meditation it tells you which candle to use. which is a plus to me, this one will work for me in general. It also tells you how to practice it meditation every day. This book only gives you 62 pages of reading materiel. And the other 6 pages tells you about Mindfulness for beginners, The history and definition of Mindfulness. So I hope this helps you to buy or not to buy the book. The "Cons" of this book its short but sweet, it only gives you the basic info for meditation. This is why I only gave it 4 stars.
You get what you pay for. This book teaches you what meditation means, but I think everyone knows what it means. I read it in 30 minutes and don't feel the need to review, not because I learned a lot, just not interesting enough. I would not recommend this book.
It says it's the "Ultimate Meditation Guide" but Idk about that... It's more of the "Ultimate Brief Intro to Meditation". It's a super basic, easy-to-understand little book that I think would be good for a total newbie. I got this for my "relaxing" grab bag gift set, so I guess it totally fits.
I have meditated years ago and somehow fell out or the habit. I am wanting to encourage my wife to meditate and I wanted to renew my habit. This book is very well done and concise. It can be read very quickly to get a general idea about meditation and how simple it really is. This author keeps it pithy. Highly recommend this book to anyone interested in meditating.
Well written. The thoughts and concepts are clear and easy to understand. I particularly like the way the author provides an open invitation to try different approaches to meditation. I recommend this book to anyone considering meditation.
