This book is fantastic. I read it cover to cover. Not only does it discuss applications to utilize in workflows pertaining to development of successful logo work, it offers many other additional tips for any practicing designer outside of the artwork i.e. working with the client etc, stories of successes and failures to learn from, great photos showing the process of specific real-time cases in today's world and the tone of the author is very encouraging and positive. Lastly, there is not one paragraph, page or chapter that was boring or irrelevant or difficult in anyway. The writing, the choice of content and clarity is perfectly balanced. All that said, I highly encourage anyone to pick up David Airey's other book "Work For Money Design For Love" which I just finished and extracted loads of information. Both books are a constant companion in my designer literature reference library.
This is really amazing book, before I chose it I been selecting between 3-4 books, after reading samples and reviews of them I decided to give it a try for this one, since it was easy to read and I found it pretty cool written with starting example of how logos surround us.I'm a starting graphic designer, still learning and this my second book I bought but the first I read, it is an amazing and very helpful book indeed, reccomending to every graphic designer or any who wants to become a designer, I'm self-studying, so this book was a great start, I now have much better understanding of brand identity design and already putting everything on practice table, using his ideas to make logos, and yeah it is working very well and much more satisfying to do the whole process instead of working randomly. Anyway, this book has my reccomendations.
If you're curious about a career as a graphic designer, this book lays it all out from formulating concepts to dealing with clients. Logo Design Love demystifies graphic design while it inspires creativity. I really enjoyed this book.
This book fills many blanks that might have been left during a formal art education. This book provides several examples of professional logos, and includes rough sketches that demonstrate the design process. There is other insight provided as well, such as dealing with clients, negotiating price, dealing with pitfalls. I recommend this book for anyone considering a career in the design industry. If you're a student and are considering design as a career path, then I highly recommend adding this to your reading material. It'll be worth the extra time. Be sure to have a notebook handy; you'll need it!

Make sense?This book examines the concepts of design and applying them to the physical work, while also moving into the areas of client relationships and how to manage communications when providing design work to someone.Really, a great read. Out of all the top-rated graphic design books on Amazon, I'd probably suggest this one first.
The favorite books on my shelf, in all subjects, are always small. Small does not mean scant. My favorite small books are always incredibly dense, and have dispensed with extraneous chapters, trivial pursuits, and needless diversions. David Airey's "Logo Design Love" is such a book. It is a comprehensive survey of the logo design process. It's easy to read quickly. It's lovely to hold. It has that "now this is a book I want to keep" feel to it, and is reserved on my shelf in my favorites section. Or "favourites" as David might put it.I know David from his blog. His personal, conversational tone on his blog bleeds right over to the book. Warm yet consummately professional. He tells you what you need to know about logo design, and refrains from abstruse pontificating that some other "Goliath" design books get mired in. That is very refreshing!If you are looking to break into the designing of logos and brands, there is no better book I'm aware of to do that succinctly, on budget, and on time, than Logo Design Love. I am a graphic designer and I can not say enough good things about this book. It is a fantastic book for graphic designers and identity experts.I cannot attest to the difference between the first and second edition as I only read this one. The sheer quality of the advice and case studies in this book is incredible. The information in this book is presented in such a matter of fact manner that not only is it a pretty quick read but very easy to absorb. The only down side I could possibly think of for this book is that it could probably be twice as long if Airey went into more detail on some of the more complex theories in this book. I will definitely be coming back to this book again and again as a resource while designing my graphic identities.
A lot of useful information for logo design. I found the parts on pricing and the process more useful than the "how to design a logo" part. The "how to" part was basic information catered to non-designers. Overall, a good and quick read with great examples on many different types of clients.
