My first order got lost in the mail but seller offered an immediate replacement (or full refund) that showed up the next day, so i appreciate that. My kindergartener started reading these right away, he was very excited. He is considered an advanced reader, if that helps, and usually has to be nagged to read. I didn't have to tell him to start reading because he was interested in these books just by looking at them. Much more interested than he was with "Henry and Mudge." Love the illustrations. He read Flat Stanley right away and started the next book. I had to stop him because it was time for bed, but he wanted to keep reading. "In a Dark Dark Room and other scary stories" is a classic! I remember reading it when I was young and the story that stuck with me was the one with the girl whose head was tied on with a ribbon. That's probably the one everyone is saying is too scary for their kids, but it's really not THAT bad, just reeeally creepy illustrations in that book. I'd definitely recommend this set if you're trying to get your kids hooked on reading.
I am NOT happy with these books. I bought them for my preschoolers in daycare. I thought they would be cutesy and fun for Halloween.Thwy are way too scary for my little people. I should have researched the titles.But it would cost me too much to send them back. Waste of my money, bummer.
Huge fan of this pack!! I work with kids and they love scary stuff so this is great! I like getting my own books so I can modify and add what I need to them. It is also great to use over again with different kids. Packages well and compact for traveling purposes too! One thing- the stories sometimes like the green ribbon one (I remember so well from my childhood) might be a little too scary for kids younger than 6/7 years old.
My grandson loves them. Just spooky enough for a 5-year-old.
I got this for my seven year old grandson who loves spooky stories. He absolutely loved it & reads it almost every night. I would highly recommend.
Agree with other reviewers, one book is a little too scary for toddlers. I save it away for later, but other than that. My son (3 years old) loves them
